ELISABETH NEWTON PEARLS
While pearls have always fascinated me, the single strand of graduated pearls always made me feel a little stuffy and not quite myself .
But when I started to design jewelry – for whatever reason- I returned to pearls. These past years I have enjoyed stretching the limits and context into which pearls are placed – whether alongside rubber, fabric, chain or wood. I love taking pearls from somewhere so stepped in tradition, to a place that is very contemporary and modern.
Here are some other yummy designers that have worked with pearls in unusual ways. And be sure to make it to the bottom – Melanie Georgacopoulos’s carved pearl necklace is not to miss!
