ELISABETH NEWTON PEARLS
These past few weeks have been chalked full of jewelry events and shows. And though exhausting, often the best part is discovering other wonderful artists from around the country. With that in mind, I thought I would share a couple of my new favorites from our show at the Walters Museum of Art Show earlier this month:
Originally from Lisbon, Ana’s jewelry meticulously incorporates elements of Portuguese architecture into each of her designs. Using traditional gold and silversmithing techniques, Ana’s jewels are almost yummy enough to eat….
The man’s designs use meteorites – need I say more?!
Each piece of AnJules jewelry is the collaborative result of sisters Angela and Julie. Though primarily silversmiths, I fell in love with the series they created using their great-grandmother’s crocheted lace. (These clever girls designed it so the lace is removable for cleaning!)
